Director of Data & Analytics
The Director of Data & Analytics at Modern Health will lead the data organization, encompassing data engineering, analytics, and data science. This role involves defining and driving the company's data strategy to enhance data pipelines, deepen analytical capabilities across business, product, and clinical domains, and responsibly apply AI and machine learning to improve member engagement and clinical outcomes. The Director will collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, clinical, business, and operations teams to ensure data serves as a strategic asset and catalyst for innovation.
Key responsibilities include defining and driving the long-term data engineering vision and roadmap to enable a scalable, compliant, cloud-native data platform supporting operational and analytical needs. The Director will lead the design and evolution of data pipelines for high-quality, secure, and timely data sharing across internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, they will oversee analytics initiatives that impact business, product, and clinical areas, from operational reporting and performance dashboards to predictive and prescriptive analytics. The role also involves championing AI/ML initiatives that enhance personalization, care coordination, and automation, focusing on safety, transparency, and regulatory compliance.
The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of experience in data-related roles, with at least 3 years leading data engineering, analytics, or data science teams. They should have a proven track record in building and executing data strategies in health tech or regulated environments. A deep understanding of modern data architecture, ETL/ELT pipelines, and cloud-based data ecosystems (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Looker) is essential. Hands-on experience with AI/ML applications, including model development, deployment, and monitoring in production, is required. Familiarity with healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR, claims, EMR/EHR data) and privacy requirements (e.g., HIPAA) is also necessary. Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences, are important. A collaborative mindset and genuine passion for improving healthcare through data and technology are highly valued.
