Director of Engineering

Alpine Software is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the transformation of our desktop application into a cloud-native, AI-enabled web platform. This role involves guiding the technical direction of our modernization efforts and ensuring seamless knowledge transfer within the team. Alpine Software specializes in mission-critical solutions for fire and EMS agencies, providing integrated mobile and desktop products that enhance operational effectiveness and community service.

The Director of Engineering will be responsible for partnering with the modernization team to replatform our software to a cloud-native web architecture. Key duties include establishing scalable architecture, defining technical priorities, and implementing best practices. The role also involves contributing directly to backend and frontend development, leading architecture discussions, performing code reviews, and mentoring a team of up to four engineers.

Candidates should have at least 8 years of progressive software engineering experience, including 3 years in a senior technical leadership role. Required skills include proficiency in C#/.NET, Azure cloud architecture, React/TypeScript, and SQL Server or PostgreSQL. Experience with modernizing complex legacy systems and familiarity with AI-assisted development environments are essential. Strong communication and collaboration abilities are also necessary.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $175,000 to $200,000, excluding annual bonuses and equity. Compensation is based on factors such as market conditions, location, and the candidate's skills and experience.
