Director, Strategic People Partner
Flex, a growth-stage FinTech company headquartered in New York City, is seeking a Director, Strategic People Partner to join our People Team. This role will act as a strategic partner to our rapidly scaling Engineering and Product (R&D) teams, ensuring exceptional support to employees and leaders while maintaining compliance and fostering an engaged, high-performing workforce. Flex enables users to pay rent throughout the month on a schedule that better fits their finances and budget, aiming to empower renters with flexibility over their most significant recurring expense.
The Director, Strategic People Partner will serve as a strategic partner to leaders within the Engineering and Product teams, aligning people initiatives with key business objectives. Responsibilities include leading workforce planning, talent development, and organizational design; acting as the primary point of contact for employee concerns; improving engagement through proactive outreach; supporting performance management, compensation reviews, benefits optimization, and learning & development programs; overseeing culture-building events; ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations; mediating conflicts; managing audits and documentation processes; analyzing and interpreting people data to provide recommendations for improvement; and supporting Talent Acquisition with job leveling, compensation strategies, and onboarding best practices.
The ideal candidate will have over 7 years of experience in Human Resources, including at least 3 years as a strategic business partner. Experience in a scaling start-up environment is essential, with a proven ability to adapt to a dynamic setting where needs can change quickly. Previous experience supporting fast-paced technical teams, particularly Engineering and Product, is highly preferred. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to think strategically at an organizational level and drive large-scale, cross-functional improvements. Strong project management skills, proficiency in analyzing people data and metrics using Excel/Google Sheets, and excellent relational and presentation skills are also required.
Flex offers a competitive compensation package, with a base salary range of $204,000 to $255,000 for candidates located in Tier 1 markets (NYC/SF/Seattle). For other U.S. locations, compensation is adjusted based on market conditions.
