Electro-Mechanical Engineer, R&D
Anduril Industries is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Engineer to join their R&D team at the Costa Mesa headquarters. This role focuses on early-stage development of complex systems, including mechanical structures, batteries, actuators, motors, power systems, PCBAs, sensors, and payloads. The position requires a hands-on, self-starting individual capable of proving concept feasibility and building initial prototypes.
Key responsibilities include rapidly evaluating engineering concepts across various fields, managing early vendor relationships, performing trade studies and physics-based analyses, and overseeing the design, implementation, and testing of complex electro-mechanical systems. The engineer will lead design reviews, conduct analyses, visit vendors, define and execute hardware test plans, build and test prototypes, analyze failures, and transition successful projects toward production. Supporting critical hardware demonstrations and traveling to test sites, vendors, and demos as needed are also part of the role.
Candidates must have experience in immersive technical projects, demonstrated leadership and autonomy skills, and at least three years of mechanical and/or electrical design experience in a professional setting. Proficiency in CAD and PCB design, strong organizational skills, and a BS, MS, or PhD in an engineering field are required. Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret clearance is mandatory.
The position offers a salary range of $129,000 to $171,000 USD, with actual offers varying based on experience, education, and other factors. Anduril provides comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans at little to no cost, generous PTO plans with a holiday hiatus in December, caregiver and wellness leave, family planning and parenting support, mental health resources, professional development reimbursement, commuter benefits, and relocation assistance. A 401(k) retirement savings plan with traditional, Roth, and after-tax options is also available.
