Engineering Finance Analyst
The Engineering Finance Analyst at Peak Energy will collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to support cost initiatives as the company scales its manufacturing operations. This role involves establishing cost targets, developing internal cost models, supporting capital planning, and contributing to the product roadmap. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, this position is the first engineering finance hire, offering significant growth opportunities within the organization.
Key responsibilities include partnering with design and manufacturing engineering during product architecture and design reviews to quantify cost, margin, and lifecycle trade-offs. The analyst will develop and maintain should-cost models at various levels and translate engineering changes into financial impacts on unit economics, cost of goods sold, and gross margin. Additionally, the role involves forecasting engineering spend, managing cost-reduction initiatives, and collaborating with the supply chain on supplier selection and sourcing decisions.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or a related field, with 2-4+ years of experience in capital finance, operations finance, project finance, or engineering finance, preferably in hardware, energy, industrials, or infrastructure-heavy environments. Strong understanding of purchase order workflows, change orders, milestone payments, and capital controls is essential. Proficiency in ERP systems for costing, vendor management, and reporting, along with advanced financial modeling skills in Excel or Google Sheets, is required. Experience with SQL and business intelligence tools is a plus.
The salary range for this role is $140,000 to $185,000 annually, with actual compensation varying based on work location, experience, and skills.
