NPI Materials Planning Intern (Fall 2026)
Peak Energy is seeking a Global Supply Chain Management Intern for Fall 2026 to support the sourcing and management of direct materials for their Energy Storage System (ESS) components. This role offers hands-on experience in the strategy and operations behind launching and scaling cutting-edge battery products, particularly focusing on the next-generation sodium-ion battery program. The intern will work closely with the Energy Storage Supply Chain Team, which leads sourcing, supplier development, and qualification of outsourced components and assemblies for Peak Energy's Battery ESS Products.
Key responsibilities include assisting in the development and execution of supply chain strategies for ESS components, conducting supplier research, drafting RFIs/RFQs for critical components, supporting supplier onboarding, and managing New Product Introduction (NPI) builds by tracking material readiness and ensuring on-time Clear to Build (CTB) status. The intern will also collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations teams to support NPI & Pilot builds, assist with logistics planning and cost optimization for international and domestic shipments, and prepare reports and presentations for internal stakeholders to support strategic decision-making.
Candidates should be currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field. Strong analytical and organizational skills are required, with proficiency in Excel and/or data analysis tools. An interest in clean tech, energy storage, and/or domestic manufacturing policy is essential, along with excellent communication and collaboration abilities. A self-starter attitude with a willingness to dive into ambiguity and solve problems is also important. Prior internship or project experience in supply chain, operations, or procurement is a plus.
The internship offers an hourly rate of $30 and provides a supportive environment with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the energy sector. This role is based in Burlingame, CA, and is an exciting opportunity to learn how to build a supply chain from the ground up and contribute to domestic clean tech manufacturing.
Peak Energy is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce. They value skills, potential, and perspective over specific credentials and encourage individuals from underrepresented groups to apply.
