Applied Intuition is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Data Platform team within the Data Engineering group. This role involves managing a team responsible for the full data lifecycle—ranging from collection and ingestion to storage, querying, and retrieval—at a scale of hundreds of petabytes. The position is based in Sunnyvale, California, and requires close collaboration with various business units to define the technical roadmap for the data platform, ensuring reliable support for both external products and internal tools across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises deployments.

Key responsibilities include leading, growing, and mentoring a team of data infrastructure engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration. The role involves defining and driving the technical roadmap for data infrastructure, balancing short-term delivery with long-term scalability. The Engineering Manager will partner with engineering, product, and business unit leaders to align data infrastructure investments with company priorities. Additionally, the role entails owning the architecture and reliability of systems that handle the full data lifecycle across all deployment environments and regions, and driving engineering decisions around scalable data ingestion, indexing, storage, and retrieval for high-volume autonomous vehicle and physical AI workloads.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, along with over six years of professional software engineering experience, including at least two years in an engineering management or technical lead role. Hands-on experience with large-scale open-source data technologies such as Spark, Kafka, Hudi/Iceberg, and Flyte is essential. A strong track record of leading teams that build and operate high-scale distributed data systems is required, as well as experience managing engineers across the full data lifecycle in a production environment. Deep understanding of containerization, cloud-native architectures, and modern software development workflows is also necessary.

Compensation for this role includes a base salary ranging from $204,000 to $343,000 annually, along with equity in the form of options and/or restricted stock units. The benefits package comprises comprehensive health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance coverage, 401(k) retirement benefits with employer match, learning and wellness stipends, and paid time off. Note that benefits are subject to change and may vary based on the jurisdiction of employment.

Applied Intuition fosters a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and collaboration. The company emphasizes the importance of flexibility and trusts employees to manage their schedules responsibly, recognizing the need to accommodate personal commitments. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge data infrastructure projects, contributing to the advancement of physical AI technologies.
