The manager will collaborate with engineers, managers, and product teams to understand pain points and design scalable solutions, drive predictable delivery by breaking down complex problems, and oversee the full software development lifecycle for the team's services and tools. Additionally, the role involves identifying opportunities for AI-assisted development and integrating these capabilities into the software development lifecycle.

The ideal candidate possesses over five years of hands-on software design and development experience, with at least three years in an engineering management or equivalent technical leadership role. Experience in building and operating large-scale, performant web applications, proficiency in modern strongly typed backend languages like Java or C#, and familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP are essential. Hands-on experience with modern AI tools and a perspective on their responsible application to improve developer experience are also required. Strong project management and collaboration skills, high emotional intelligence, and a growth-oriented mindset are critical for success in this role.

CarGurus offers a comprehensive compensation package, including an annual base salary ranging from $186,000 to $233,000, equity for all employees, and potential discretionary bonuses or incentives.
