The Truework Team at Checkr is seeking a motivated Engineering Manager to lead our Mortgage Verifications Team. This team is responsible for building and launching new products, enhancing customer-facing experiences, and advancing the Truework platform. As the Engineering Manager, you will collaborate closely with product managers and key stakeholders to develop software solutions that delight our customers. Your work will have a significant impact, influencing millions of consumers annually and assisting businesses in making informed, safe decisions.

In this role, you will drive the technical vision for the team, inspiring and motivating members for the next chapter. You will partner closely with product management to build new features and enhance existing ones, work with the team to reduce technical debt and sustainably scale our architecture, and build relationships with customers to drive results. Additionally, you will nurture and grow team members based on their career aspirations, hire top talent to raise the team's bar, represent the team in planning and product meetings, and optimize engineering processes and policies to drive velocity and quality.

The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience as an engineering manager and over 8 years as an engineer. Strong skills in critical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving, and attention to detail are essential. Experience managing quality incidents as both a technical lead and communication lead is required. You should have experience working on products at scale, understanding the data, legal, human impact, and technical nuances of supporting highly regulated products. Proficiency with TDD, pair programming, and agile methodologies, as well as a deep understanding of service architecture and system design, are important. The ability to make high-level prioritization decisions quickly and thoughtfully, develop inclusive teams to foster growth and diversity, and a willingness to learn are also key. Experience with machine learning and AI is a plus.
