Engineering Technician
Applied Intuition is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Technician to join our Tokyo team. This hands-on role is integral to the design, buildout, testing, and maintenance of our test rigs and platforms, contributing to the advancement of physical AI technologies. At Applied Intuition, we encourage engineers to take ownership over technical and product decisions, fostering a dynamic and collaborative team culture.
In this position, you will support vehicle buildouts by following schematics for hardware and electrical systems, including the installation and assembly of sensors, computing units, and structural support equipment. You will troubleshoot vehicle systems, computer components, and sensors, performing root cause analysis and calibration to ensure optimal performance. Additionally, you will manage an inventory system for all components and lab supplies, maintaining organization and efficiency, and oversee the procurement process for key components while maintaining relationships with key suppliers. Collaborating with team members, you will work to minimize vehicle downtime while prioritizing safety and performance.
The ideal candidate must possess a 国家2級自動車整備士 certification or higher and have over 5 years of technical experience in mechanical, electrical, computer, automotive, or robotics industries. You should have a proven ability to assemble prototypes, electrical wiring, and cable assemblies according to engineering instructions, along with a strong understanding of electrical schematics and datasheets to ensure accurate interpretation and implementation. Experience in documenting and maintaining detailed assembly procedures is essential. A strong enthusiasm for learning new technologies, thriving in a fast-paced environment, and possessing strong organizational and communication skills are also key. Experience in reviewing vehicle modifications in relation to Japanese safety regulations (保安基準), commercial truck maintenance and repair, and practical experience as a certified vehicle inspector (自動車検査員) are highly desirable.
