Equipment Engineer
Anduril Industries is seeking an Equipment Engineer to join its Manufacturing Technology, Maritime Team in Costa Mesa, California. This team is responsible for rapidly developing and implementing manufacturing technologies and processes for cutting-edge defense hardware, including deployable static and moving surface, undersea, and sea-to-air vehicles, and scaling these products in new manufacturing facilities.
In this role, the Equipment Engineer will design and develop next-generation equipment and tooling, as well as layouts to support manufacturing processes. Responsibilities include creating factory layouts and discrete designs that incorporate advanced movement, holding, and processing systems to support factory development and future production systems. The engineer will utilize digital thread, computer-aided design, simulation, and computer graphics to enable lean manufacturing principles, integrated metrology, and visual management. Additionally, the role involves questioning requirements in production system design and facility creation to ensure cost- and schedule-effective solutions, supporting the design, development, construction, commissioning, and start-up of production systems at new factory sites, and providing support on product manufacturing processes, material flow, and new technologies to meet production performance and timelines.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience as a designer and technology developer of tools, tooling, equipment, and processes for manufacturing technology development, simulation modeling, digital thread development, and/or production/process engineering. Experience in technology development and implementation in facilities, equipment, and tooling for large-scale manufacturing is essential. The candidate should have the ability to work hands-on in a manufacturing environment, alongside operations and manufacturing engineering, to understand and optimize the production system. Due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities, the candidate must be a U.S. Person.
Preferred qualifications include prior work with architecture and infrastructure engineering partners and/or general contractors to build, improve, or modify production facilities, experience in process improvement with justification of return on investment for process or operational changes, application of lean manufacturing and linear flow principles in a production environment, automation development for manufacturing processes in assembly, integration, test, and finishing operations, and design and construction of facilities, tooling, fixturing, and equipment for large-scale production systems.
The salary range for this position is $98,000 to $130,000 annually. Anduril offers highly competitive equity grants as part of the total compensation package. Additionally, Anduril provides top-tier benefits for full-time employees, including comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans at little to no cost, income protection through life and disability insurance, generous time off with a holiday hiatus in December, family planning and parenting support, mental health resources, professional development reimbursement, commuter benefits, and relocation assistance depending on role eligibility.
