Fastener Engineer
Anduril Industries is seeking a Fastener Engineer to join our team in Costa Mesa, California. This role is crucial in ensuring the integrity of mechanical connections across our defense technology products, aiming to prevent over-engineering and reduce long-term costs associated with field repairs. The Fastener Engineer will drive part standardization and champion best practices, embedding quality and efficiency into every aspect of our product development lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing comprehensive fastener joint testing programs, validating critical bolted joints from initial concept through production phases. The role involves maintaining a meticulously documented registry of all critical bolted joints, curating a comprehensive library of fasteners, and providing expert technical consultation for bolted joint performance issues throughout the product lifecycle. Additionally, the Fastener Engineer will collaborate with Supplier Quality teams to validate potential suppliers and their products, develop technical requirements for torque control tools, and support strategic fastener consolidation initiatives.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related technical field. Hands-on experience in a laboratory setting focused on fastener testing, bolted joint analysis, or mechanical reliability engineering is essential. The candidate should have a strong understanding of fundamental bolted joint theory, experience with common fastener types and their applications, and the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to cross-functional teams. Familiarity with laboratory testing equipment and a proactive, problem-solving mindset with a commitment to quality and reliability are also required.
