Global Head of Sanctions

Block is seeking a Global Head of Sanctions Compliance to lead and oversee the company's global sanctions program. This senior role involves setting the strategic vision, developing policies and standards, and ensuring effective execution across all Block products and services. The position is integral to maintaining compliance with international sanctions regulations and mitigating associated risks.

The Global Head of Sanctions will be responsible for authoring and maintaining company-wide sanctions policies, defining the sanctions risk framework across fiat and digital asset products, and building and leading a team of sanctions compliance professionals. Key duties include integrating sanctions controls into systems and architectural designs, serving as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, and driving continuous improvement of sanctions screening infrastructure.

Candidates should have over 10 years of experience in sanctions compliance, ideally within both major financial institutions and high-growth fintech or payments companies. A deep understanding of OFAC, UN, EU, and OFSI sanctions regimes is essential, along with a proven track record of building and leading high-performing financial crimes teams. Experience in designing or overhauling sanctions screening programs at scale and familiarity with ML-assisted screening tools are also required.
