Launch Technician - Mechanical

Rocket Lab is seeking a Launch Technician - Mechanical to join our team at the Mahia, Hawke's Bay launch site. This role is integral to the Electron Integrated Systems Testing team, focusing on the assembly, testing, and launch operations of the Electron rocket. Rocket Lab is a leading end-to-end space company dedicated to providing responsive launch services and spacecraft manufacturing to support a variety of space missions.

The Launch Technician - Mechanical will be responsible for receiving and processing Electron stages in accordance with specified test procedures. Key duties include identifying and addressing potential risks to ensure the reliability of the Electron rocket, assisting in the integration of payloads while maintaining professional interactions with customers, and performing various launch operation roles as needed. Additionally, the technician will develop and implement preventative maintenance and inspection procedures for ground support equipment (GSE) and conduct routine maintenance and upgrades of vehicle-related GSE.

Candidates should possess a trade qualification and have at least three years of experience in electrical or mechanical industrial settings. Proficiency in pneumatics and fluid systems, a solid understanding of electrical systems, and basic competency in computer and data systems are essential. Experience with high-pressure gas systems, fluid dynamics, and adherence to oxygen service cleanliness standards are advantageous. An interest or skills in electronics will also be highly valued.
