Rocket Lab is seeking a Lead Engineer for the Tooling, Test, and Infrastructure team at our Space Structures Complex in Middle River, MD. This role focuses on developing, implementing, and continuously improving tooling, ground support equipment (GSE), and testing processes for the Neutron Launch Vehicle. The Neutron is a medium-lift, reusable launch vehicle designed to deliver mega constellations, high-assurance payloads, and support human spaceflight.

The Lead Engineer will manage a team responsible for scaling Neutron's production through the creation of mechanical tools that enhance assembly accuracy, reduce setup times, and minimize crane usage. Responsibilities include designing equipment that interfaces with the vehicle for testing, transport, and integration, as well as coordinating qualification and structural tests. Collaboration with structures teams, other lead engineers, facilities, and operations is essential to manage facility-wide constraints, develop technician training plans, and introduce new production techniques.

Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, or manufacturing engineering, or a related technical field, along with over five years of manufacturing experience in a highly regulated industry. Leadership experience is required. Preferred qualifications include experience with capacity modeling, process mapping, Lean manufacturing, tooling and structures design, 3D CAD software, composite materials, large structural assemblies, and managing diverse workforces.

Rocket Lab offers a competitive salary range of $115,000 to $155,000 annually, along with company equity. The benefits package includes top-tier medical, dental, and vision coverage, three weeks of paid vacation, five days of sick leave per year, 11 paid holidays, flexible spending and dependent care savings accounts, paid parental leave, disability and life insurance, and a 401(k) retirement plan with company match. Additional perks include a discounted employee stock purchase program and free onsite snacks and drinks.
