Legal Administrative Assistant
Wilson Elser, a prominent defense litigation law firm with over 1,400 attorneys across 46 offices nationwide, is seeking a Legal Administrative Assistant for its Portland office. This role offers a flexible, hybrid working arrangement and involves providing comprehensive administrative and litigation support to a dynamic team of attorneys in a fast-paced environment.
The Legal Administrative Assistant will be responsible for coordinating new matter openings and closings, including conflict checks and file management. Key duties include preparing, formatting, proofreading, and editing legal documents and court filings, as well as filing documents in state, federal, and appellate courts using electronic filing applications. Additional responsibilities encompass managing incoming mail, maintaining electronic and client files, scheduling hearings and depositions, and assisting with billing support and expense reports.
Candidates should possess a high school diploma or equivalent and have at least three years of administrative experience, preferably within a law firm or litigation environment. Familiarity with legal terminology, document formatting, and court procedures is essential. Experience with electronic filing systems is preferred. Strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple deadlines, and professional communication skills are required. The role also demands strict confidentiality and comfort working in a hybrid environment.
