Legal Counsel, APAC Marketing
Stripe is seeking a dedicated marketing lawyer to join its expanding legal team, focusing on the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. This role involves providing comprehensive legal support to Stripe's Marketing, Communications, and Design teams, ensuring that all marketing initiatives comply with applicable laws, global privacy frameworks, local regulations, and internal policies. The position is pivotal in developing and scaling legal support frameworks within a rapidly growing and strategically important region for the company.
Key responsibilities include advising on commercial, marketing, and privacy issues across the APAC region, ensuring compliance of events, marketing materials, CRM practices, and communications. The role also entails drafting, negotiating, and managing complex commercial and licensing agreements related to marketing activities. Additionally, the legal counsel will monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments within Greater China and other key APAC markets, translating these changes into actionable advice and compliance strategies. Collaborating effectively with internal stakeholders across various teams and managing outside counsel are also integral parts of the role.
The ideal candidate should have over six years of relevant marketing legal experience, either in-house or within a law firm's marketing practice group, with expertise in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a variety of marketing and advertising contracts. A strong understanding of APAC markets, including cultural, regulatory, and commercial nuances, is essential. Proficiency in data protection frameworks such as GDPR and key APAC regulations (e.g., Singapore's PDPA, Australia's Privacy Act) is required, particularly as they apply to sponsored events, CRM practices, and vendor/agency relationships. Experience in developing and delivering localized legal training programs on marketing, advertising, and data privacy laws tailored for a non-legal audience in APAC is also desirable. The candidate should possess exceptional communication skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent deals under tight deadlines.
