Staff Engineer, Infrastructure
Stripe is seeking a Staff Engineer to join its Edge organization, which provides a secure, fast, and highly reliable platform connecting Stripe's products to users worldwide. This team abstracts the complexities of the public internet, enabling product engineers to focus on developing world-class features. The Edge organization is responsible for fundamental infrastructure components, including global routing, CDNs, DDoS mitigation, certificate and domain management, and traffic ingress/egress, all while maintaining rigorous PCI compliance.
In this role, the Staff Engineer will lead the design and implementation of robust, forward-looking solutions for global network management, content delivery networks (CDN), and automated certificate lifecycles. Responsibilities include enhancing deployment safety, fortifying system reliability, eliminating operational risks associated with configuration management, and spearheading major technical and business projects in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders. The engineer will also focus on end-to-end infrastructure automation and driving significant cost efficiencies, while collaborating with partner teams to elevate observability, security, and compliance standards across the infrastructure edge.
The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of hands-on experience building large-scale, distributed systems, with a proven track record of developing complex infrastructures and identifying and optimizing system shortcomings. Strong technical leadership skills are essential, including the ability to drive the team's technical vision, roadmap, tooling, processes, and culture. The candidate should be adept at making appropriate trade-offs between reliability, throughput, latency, resiliency, engineering velocity, and cost, and committed to upholding high engineering standards and improving codebases and processes.
