Legal Counsel

As a Legal Counsel at Payhawk, you will serve as the primary legal advisor, overseeing commercial contracts and payment services regulations within a dynamic, multi-jurisdictional fintech environment. You will work closely with internal teams to ensure legal compliance and support business operations across various regions.

Your key responsibilities will include drafting, negotiating, and executing client and partner contracts, particularly those involving financial institutions and regulated customers. You will also manage vendor and third-party agreements, ensuring they align with company policies and regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will provide general legal advice on employment matters and other business-related legal issues, collaborating with HR and external specialists as needed.

To be successful in this role, you should be a qualified lawyer with at least five years of post-qualification experience, preferably in an in-house counsel position within a tech or fintech company. Experience with AI tools to enhance legal efficiency is highly desirable. A strong understanding of commercial contracts, data protection laws, and payment services regulations across multiple jurisdictions, including the EU and UK, is essential.
