Localization Engineer
As a Localization Engineer at TransPerfect Legal, you will be an integral part of a team dedicated to providing comprehensive language and technology solutions to clients worldwide. TransPerfect Legal specializes in legal translation and support services, ensuring accurate and efficient communication across diverse legal systems and languages.
In this role, your primary responsibilities will include analyzing websites and applications to assess their localization potential and determining the necessary time and resources for successful project execution. You will automate processes such as file parsing and filtering, re-engineer components to accommodate localization adjustments, and develop scripts for data manipulation. Ensuring compliance with client requirements and maintaining data integrity are also key aspects of the position. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with project management, art and graphics personnel, sales teams, and clients to provide input during pre-sale planning and project estimation phases.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university and have at least two years of experience in a related field. Strong knowledge of programming languages such as VB, VBA, and C++, as well as scripting languages like Perl, ASP, Java, and JSP, is essential. Proficiency in markup languages including XML, HTML, and XLIFF is also required. Familiarity with Translation Memory Tools (e.g., Wordfast, Trados, Déjà vu, SDLX) and Software Localization tools (e.g., Catalyst, Passolo, Silk) is highly valued. Experience with Windows, Mac, and Solaris platforms will be beneficial.
