Maintenance Engineer
Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California, dedicated to building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance sustainable air mobility. As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be a key member of our Maintenance Engineering team, reporting to the Manager of Maintenance Engineering, and will play a crucial role in developing technical publications and processes to support the certification efforts for Archer's aircraft.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with Design Engineering and Technical Writers to author, review, and validate maintenance procedures for the Archer Midnight aircraft. Your responsibilities will include delivering comprehensive Maintenance Manuals to Archer’s customers, supporting the integration of aircraft into new customer fleets, and providing technical expertise to enhance Archer’s Technical Publications processes. Additionally, you will participate in creating processes for gathering maintenance data to optimize aircraft maintenance throughout its lifecycle and support the approval process of Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) with certification authorities.
The ideal candidate will possess a collaborative mindset, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a passion for learning and problem-solving. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and over 10 years of experience in aircraft maintenance or a related field are required. Technical qualifications include strong experience in authoring, reviewing, and validating technical publications as a maintenance engineer, FAA A&P certification, proficiency with S1000D projects, XML, SGML, Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Illustrator, and Simplified Technical English (ADS-STE100). Experience with style sheets, aircraft fleet configuration management, and tools for distributing technical publications, including Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETP) or Manuals (IETM), is also essential.
Preferred qualifications include experience with S1000D data exchange with maintenance tracking suites such as Trax, AMOS, or Flightdocs, validation processes with the FAA, comprehensive understanding of Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, experience with Siemens TeamCenter and NX, fleet entry into service experience, airline quality or maintenance programs, and knowledge of FAR 91, 135, and 145 regulations.
