Manager, Cost Accounting
Archer, an aerospace company based in San Jose, California, is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Cost Accounting Manager to join their team. This critical role reports to the Director of Cost Accounting and involves collaborating with cross-functional teams as the company moves towards commercialization. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate strong ownership and initiative.
The Cost Accounting Manager will lead all cost accounting functions, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation. Responsibilities include analyzing manufacturing performance by comparing actual costs to standards, collaborating with operations, supply chain, and engineering teams to ensure accurate costing and inventory control, and providing strategic insights through in-depth financial and operational analysis to drive profitability and cost control. Additionally, the role involves managing the month-end close process for cost and inventory accounting, developing and improving cost accounting procedures and internal controls, leading annual standard cost roll, supporting budgeting and forecasting efforts related to cost of goods sold (COGS), and coordinating physical inventory counts and cycle counts to ensure accurate reporting.
Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a master's or MBA preferred. A CPA, CMA, or other relevant certification is a strong plus. The role requires over 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with SAP experience highly preferred, especially in cost, inventory, and production modules. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to take initiative, work independently, and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and familiarity with business intelligence platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or Sigma are also desirable. Experience in the aviation or aerospace industry is a plus.
Archer offers a competitive base salary ranging from $124,800 to $156,000, with actual compensation determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
