Remote is seeking a Managing Counsel, Product to join its dynamic legal team. This role focuses on providing pragmatic and innovative legal solutions for Remote's products, particularly in the areas of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) features. The position is fully remote, allowing candidates from anywhere in the world to apply.

The Managing Counsel will lead AI and HRIS product compliance efforts, collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, Security, and Privacy teams. Responsibilities include embedding risk-based legal reviews into product development workflows, owning product terms and conditions for HRIS and AI features, and establishing core product AI governance frameworks. Additionally, the role involves drafting and negotiating product terms, monitoring new AI and technology regulations, managing external counsel on complex multi-jurisdictional issues, and delivering targeted training sessions.

Candidates should be qualified lawyers with extensive experience in product counseling, particularly within the technology sector and HR-tech exposure. A strong command of emerging AI frameworks and their interplay with data protection and employment transparency rules is essential. Preferred qualifications include in-house legal experience, experience in fast-paced startups, and a passion for technology and HR tech products. Excellent analytical and organizational skills, fluency in English, and proficiency with tools like Slack, Juro, Notion, and Google Drive are also required.

The annual salary range for this full-time position is $66,300 to $149,150 USD.
