Divergent is seeking a Manufacturing Development Engineer to join our team in Torrance, California. As an Additive Manufacturing (AM) Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS), an end-to-end factory system that leverages machine learning to engineer, additively manufacture, and assemble complex vehicle structures and subsystems. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge manufacturing technologies within a dynamic and innovative environment.

In this role, you will provide manufacturing engineering support across multiple laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) subsystems, including optics, recoater, gas flow, and fluid systems. Your responsibilities will encompass developing and refining comprehensive work instructions and standard operating procedures, collaborating with design and R&D teams to enhance manufacturability, conducting design for manufacturing analyses to reduce costs and improve cycle times, and leading root cause and corrective action activities for manufacturing-related issues. Additionally, you will support the implementation of enterprise tools such as PLM, ERP, and MES systems, and champion continuous improvement efforts across manufacturing documentation and process control.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with a minimum of 2 years of experience for Engineer II level or 5 years for Senior Engineer level in mechanical, electrical, systems, or manufacturing engineering. Experience in additive manufacturing, capital equipment, or low-volume/high-mix production environments is preferred. Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and drawing creation, expertise in work instruction development, process documentation, and tooling design, as well as familiarity with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and basic fabrication/assembly practices are essential. Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment are also required.

Divergent offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $111,300 to $176,720 USD, depending on experience and level.
