Market Development Representative
The Market Development Representative (MDR) at PitchBook Data serves as the initial point of contact for new business opportunities, playing a pivotal role in the sales cycle that leads to contract execution. This position is integral to the Sales Team, focusing on engaging and converting inbound leads into sales opportunities for the Small and Medium Business (SMB) Sales Team. Key responsibilities of the MDR include achieving specified goals and key performance indicators while maintaining the company's values and ensuring an excellent experience for prospective customers. The role involves booking qualified product demonstrations for the sales team, connecting with leads through written and verbal communication, and utilizing prescribed tools to manage the lead pipeline and maintain accurate records. Additionally, the MDR acts as a consultant, understanding prospects' needs and business priorities to address them appropriately, conducting thorough discovery both pre-call and during calls, completing assigned training, and participating in various company initiatives and projects as requested.
Candidates for this role should possess a bachelor's degree. While prior sales internship experience is preferred, it is not mandatory. The role requires strong communication skills, both written and verbal, a demonstrated curiosity, and a strong sense of urgency to deliver results. The ability to prioritize and organize tasks based on team strategy and goals is essential, along with excellent negotiation skills to effectively book inbound leads. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, is necessary, and an interest in the capital markets is advantageous.
The compensation for this position includes a base salary of $60,000, with an annual on-target variable commission of $27,500 for a fully ramped representative meeting expectations. PitchBook currently has no cap on commission, and earnings are determined by individual performance.
