Materials & Process Engineer / Senior Engineer (Polymers)
Divergent Technologies is seeking a Materials & Process Engineer specializing in polymers to join their innovative team in Torrance, California. Divergent has developed the Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS™), an end-to-end factory system that utilizes machine learning to engineer, additively manufacture, and assemble complex vehicle structures and subsystems. The Materials & Process Engineer will be responsible for defining and executing qualification plans for the rapid adoption of adhesives and coatings, identifying scalable solutions for corrosion and environmental protection of additive hardware, and writing and maintaining engineering specifications for materials, processes, and testing. Additional duties include supporting material-related quality monitoring tools, performing root cause investigations for production processes, and participating in integrated product teams for the development and delivery of new products.
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in materials science, engineering, or a related field, along with at least four years of experience in material qualification and technical specification writing. A minimum of two years of experience working with hardware in a manufacturing environment is also required. A background in adhesives, coatings, paint, or corrosion protection is essential. Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree in materials science or engineering, understanding of aerospace applications, experience in qualifying coating or adhesive manufacturing processes for volume production, and familiarity with industry standards such as AMS, ASTM, and MIL specifications.
The compensation for this role ranges from $116,600 to $185,130 annually, depending on the candidate's level and experience.
