Mechanical Analyst Engineer
Oklo is seeking a Mechanical Analyst Engineer to join its engineering team, focusing on the analysis of mechanical components within the power plant design. This role is ideal for engineers who excel in solving complex problems through first-principles thinking, rapid iteration hand calculations, and finite element analysis (FEA). The successful candidate will play a critical role in the progression and optimization of mechanical designs, collaborating closely with design, manufacturing, and testing teams, as well as coordinating with external vendors for additional analysis support.
Key responsibilities include performing rigorous mechanical analyses across all levels of fidelity, from hand calculations to detailed FEA, evaluating structural performance for stress, creep, fatigue, vibration, and temperature limits. The engineer will interpret and apply relevant engineering standards and codes to establish appropriate design limits and acceptance criteria. Additionally, the role involves developing clear, concise, and technically sound documentation of engineering methodologies, analysis results, and design justifications, and presenting these findings to management and various stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's or higher degree in a relevant engineering discipline, such as mechanical, aerospace, or materials engineering, and have over four years of industry experience performing mechanical or structural analysis within sectors like energy, aerospace, automotive, defense, industrial machinery, or advanced manufacturing. Proven experience in structural analysis using FEA tools, such as Ansys, Abaqus, or COMSOL, is essential. Strong programming skills for automating analysis workflows, preferably in Python, along with excellent communication and collaboration skills in a multidisciplinary engineering environment, are also required.
Oklo offers a competitive salary range of $90,000 to $150,000, dependent on applicant experience. The company provides flexible time off, equity, 401(k), health insurance, flexible spending accounts, and flexible work hours. Remote employees are required to travel to headquarters in Santa Clara, CA, twice a quarter for team meetings and other company events.
Joining Oklo means becoming part of a team dedicated to advancing clean energy technologies through next-generation fission power plants. The company values collaboration, humility, ownership, and pathfinding, fostering an environment where team members are encouraged to bring diverse perspectives, question assumptions, and explore unconventional approaches to complex challenges.
