Rocket Lab is seeking a Mechanical Assembly Technician to join our Electron team in Auckland, New Zealand. This role involves working closely with test and design engineers to ensure the highest product quality and safety standards for our launch vehicles. As a key player in the production process, you will contribute to the assembly and testing of components that are integral to our mission of opening access to space.

In this position, you will receive components from the supply chain and perform precise mechanical assembly and testing before passing them on to the Integration team. Your day-to-day tasks will include operating mechanical, electrical, and automated test equipment, adhering to exacting standards, and maintaining cleanliness suitable for oxygen service. Your contributions will directly impact the overall production and launch schedule.

The ideal candidate will be trade-qualified in a relevant industry or possess at least four years of relevant experience. Proficiency in precision mechanical assembly and the operation of various testing equipment is essential. A strong understanding of standard industry electrostatic discharge (ESD) practices, excellent eyesight for inspecting assemblies, and the ability to manufacture components to a high workmanship standard, including riveting and precision assembly, are also required.

Rocket Lab offers both day (Monday to Friday, 06:00 - 14:30) and evening (Monday to Thursday, 15:00 - 01:30) shift patterns to accommodate different schedules.
