In this role, you will contribute to the mechanical design of our utility-scale sodium-ion energy storage systems, collaborating closely with design, analysis, manufacturing, and test teams to bring innovative solutions to life. This position is based in Burlingame, California.

As a Mechanical Design Intern, your primary responsibilities will include focusing on critical design areas such as module enclosures, adhesives, plastic component design, high-current conductors, and communications harnessing. You will work closely with thermal and structural analysts, as well as other design functions, to inform and refine design decisions. Additionally, you will participate in a culture of rapid prototyping and testing, support the validation of Peak Energy products from concept through field deployment, and ensure a smooth transition from product maturation to mass production.

A strong grasp of mechanical and thermal engineering fundamentals is essential, along with a basic understanding of power electronics and electrical principles. Familiarity with 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software and experience in building prototypes are required. A passion for renewable energy, sustainability, and driving positive environmental impact through technological innovation is highly valued. Eligibility to work in the United States is mandatory.
