InternshipOn-siteEngineering

Rocket Lab is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join the Neutron team, focusing on the development of mechanical and fluid systems for the Neutron launch vehicle. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the design and testing of critical hardware components, including tank closures and propellant feed systems, across both Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the rocket. The intern will work closely with experienced engineers to support the advancement of Rocket Lab's next-generation reusable launch vehicle.

Key responsibilities include assisting in defining design and test requirements, producing and iterating on conceptual CAD designs and analyses, and assembling test rigs for mechanical and fluidics testing of components. The intern will also be involved in creating and maintaining essential documentation such as P&IDs, FMEA, test reports, and drawing packages, ensuring that all designs meet Rocket Lab's rigorous standards.

Candidates should possess competence in mechanical and fluids testing systems and instrumentation hardware, including cryogenic fluid handling, pressurization systems, sealing, valves, tubing, and pumps. Strong proficiency in CAD design, drafting (with knowledge of GD&T), and FEA analysis (preferably using Nastran) is required. Excellent communication skills and a high attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

This internship provides a hands-on experience in a fast-paced, innovative environment, offering exposure to cutting-edge aerospace technology and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of the Neutron launch vehicle. Interns will gain valuable insights into the aerospace industry and have the chance to develop their skills alongside a team of dedicated professionals.
