Metrology & Inspection Technician (2nd shift)
Divergent is seeking a Metrology & Inspection Technician for the 2nd shift at their Torrance, California facility. This role is integral to the inspection team, ensuring that complex components meet engineering specifications through precise measurement and quality assurance processes. The Metrology & Inspection Technician will be responsible for conducting visual, dimensional, and functional inspections on machined and additively manufactured components using advanced metrology tools. Key duties include interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T (ASME Y14.5) to develop robust inspection strategies, performing first article, in-process, and final inspections, and documenting non-conformances in compliance with AS9102 and internal quality procedures. The technician will also maintain proficiency with hand tools and metrology systems, such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, thread gauges, and optical comparators.
Candidates should have a minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in a quality inspector role within aerospace, automotive, or other relevant production environments. A high school diploma is required, along with proficiency in computer literacy (Windows, Teams, Excel) and the ability to read and understand engineering drawings, including knowledge of GD&T. The role requires the ability to lift parts up to 50 lbs and operate scanning arms for extended periods. Strong verbal and written communication skills, a team-oriented mindset with high attention to detail, and the ability to analyze and solve complex problems are essential.
