Rocket Lab is seeking a Mission Manager for its Neutron program, based at the company's headquarters in Long Beach, California. This role involves direct engagement with customers from contract signing through payload integration and launch at Rocket Lab's facilities in Auckland, New Zealand, or Wallops, Virginia. The Mission Manager will be instrumental in supporting the development and deployment of Neutron, Rocket Lab's upcoming medium-lift, reusable launch vehicle designed for larger constellation deployments.

The Mission Manager will oversee multiple customer missions, managing technical, programmatic, and financial milestones. Responsibilities include hands-on payload integration activities such as fit checks, dispenser, and launch vehicle integration. The role also involves assisting business development with proposal input, lead generation, and technical sales engineering reviews. Additionally, the Mission Manager will develop and verify Launch Vehicle to Spacecraft Interface Control Documentation (ICD) and create and execute assembly integration instructions. Regular interaction with customers to address technical inquiries and representation of the company at public events are also key aspects of the position.

Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in an engineering or technical discipline, with a preference for Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace degrees. A minimum of 5 years of mission management experience or an engineering background in areas such as stress, fatigue, payloads, vibration, or thermal analysis is required. Experience in hardware integration or project management related to launch vehicles or spacecraft projects is essential. The role requires the ability to travel to launch pads, customer sites, and overseas locations, as well as the capability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.
