The Payroll Accountant II at Rocket Lab's Albuquerque, New Mexico facility is responsible for processing and maintaining the company's payroll records. This role is integral to the Finance team, which manages all financial transactions, policies, compliance, and reporting to support Rocket Lab's mission of delivering responsive launch services and space systems.

Key responsibilities include reviewing and processing bi-weekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees, validating and reconciling payroll data to ensure accuracy, and assisting with employee contributions for 401(k), HSA, Employee Stock Purchase Plans (ESOP), and stock-based compensation. The role also involves processing manual checks for terminations and adjustments, reconciling payroll, benefits, and tax general ledger accounts, coordinating with other departments to gather relevant data, and supporting month-end close activities such as journal entry compilation, reconciliation, and reporting.

Candidates should have at least 2 years of payroll accounting experience and a bachelor's degree, or a high school diploma with 6+ years of relevant work experience. Proficiency in Excel and data analysis, as well as experience in payroll processing and reconciliation, are required. Preferred qualifications include experience with stock or equity-related compensation, attention to detail, deadline orientation, and familiarity with Deltek CostPoint or similar ERP systems, as well as ADP Workforce Now and ADP Workforce Manager.
