Remote is seeking a Payroll Specialist Lead to join its Global Payroll Operations Team, focusing on payroll processes in Japan. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a company dedicated to simplifying global employment compliance for organizations worldwide.

The Payroll Specialist Lead will act as a subject matter expert for Japan, managing relationships with key stakeholders across Payroll Implementation, Finance, Product, and Engineering teams. Responsibilities include processing end-to-end payroll in-house, ensuring statutory compliance, handling exceptions, approvals, payments, and maintaining data integrity and quality. Additional duties encompass accounting reconciliations, focusing on key performance indicators and service level agreements, implementing and improving processes, mentoring payroll specialists, and providing backup support for regional managers during absences.

Candidates should have experience in payroll management or equivalent roles, with a solid understanding of payroll best practices. Proficiency in software tools such as SAP and Excel or Google Sheets is essential. An analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities is required, along with the capacity to adapt to a fast-paced, international work environment. A passion for making an impact, a proactive approach to improving work processes, and fluency in English are also necessary. While prior remote work experience is not mandatory, it is considered a plus.

The annual salary range for this full-time position is ¥8,600,000 to ¥9,700,000 JPY.
