Powertrain Test Engineer
The Powertrain Test Engineer at Harbinger Motors Inc. is responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving powertrain test systems at the company's Garden Grove headquarters. This role involves creating in-house test benches for electric drive units and components, supporting current product validation, new product development, and failure analysis. Key responsibilities include designing and deploying electromechanical test benches for electric drive units and components through both software and hands-on approaches. The engineer will develop and maintain test standards, design and develop test equipment, and manage purchased test capital equipment to ensure test readiness. Additionally, the role involves leveraging data analysis tools to reproduce and characterize failures, designing and architecting electric motor and electric drive unit dynamometers and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems, and supporting the validation of automated test systems.
Candidates should have over seven years of relevant industry experience with a focus on hardware validation and integration testing. Proficiency with National Instruments (NI) hardware, including PXIe-RT, cRIO, and cDAQ, and experience coding with real-time and FPGA modules are essential. The role requires the ability to use and write drivers for NI-XNET (CAN and LIN) and NI-VISA Serial (RS232, RS485) and TCP/IP (Modbus, SCPI, FTP, and TCP/IP). Experience in test data analysis and setting up data processing streams in Matlab, Python, or similar programming languages is necessary. Familiarity with electronic test equipment such as power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, data acquisition, and measurement sensors is also required. Experience with 3D CAD modeling software is preferred.
The position offers a competitive salary range of $100,000 to $140,000 annually.
