Principal AME Equipment Engineer, Battery
Harbinger Motors Inc., an American commercial electric vehicle company, is seeking a Principal Advanced Manufacturing Equipment (AME) Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of battery and module manufacturing equipment. This role is pivotal in establishing and scaling in-house battery production, enhancing safety, efficiency, and quality from concept to high-volume mass production. The successful candidate will join a team dedicated to transforming the medium-duty EV and hybrid vehicle industry.
The Principal AME Equipment Engineer will define and execute long-term equipment strategies for battery cell and pack manufacturing, aligning with product roadmaps and production targets. Responsibilities include managing the full equipment lifecycle—from concept and specification to vendor selection, design review, installation, commissioning, and continuous improvement. The role also involves planning and setting up new battery manufacturing lines, optimizing space and utilities, and ensuring seamless equipment integration.
Candidates should possess over 13 years of experience in advanced manufacturing engineering, with at least 8 years focused on battery manufacturing equipment in high-volume industries such as automotive EVs, consumer electronics, or energy storage. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is required. Expertise in cell, module, and battery manufacturing processes, automation principles, and equipment lifecycle management is essential. Proficiency in CAD software and a strong understanding of safety standards and industry regulations are also necessary.
