Rocket Lab's Optical Systems division is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead a team dedicated to developing innovative space-based payloads for Department of Defense and Intelligence Community customers. This role is based in Tucson, Arizona, and focuses on delivering mission-critical solutions for space, terrestrial, and airborne environments. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing Rocket Lab's mission to revolutionize access to space.

The Principal Electrical Engineer will manage and mentor a team of electrical engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Responsibilities include setting clear objectives, providing regular feedback, and supporting the professional development of team members. The role also involves overseeing the design, analysis, and optimization of electrical systems for space applications, ensuring seamless integration with other subsystems. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including mechanical and systems engineers, is essential to achieve project goals.

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering or a related discipline, along with at least 12 years of electrical hardware experience. An active U.S. Government Security Clearance, with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI, is required. The ideal applicant will have a strong background in designing and developing electrical systems for space applications, including experience with high-speed, analog, and digital printed circuit boards, as well as opto-electronic circuitry. Proficiency in meeting EMI/EMC guidelines and transitioning designs from R&D to full-scale production within an AS9100 (ISO 9001) environment is also necessary.
