Principal Engineer, Generative & Agentic AI
Zip Co Limited is seeking a Principal Engineer for Generative and Agentic AI to lead the development of autonomous, adaptive systems within our fintech platform. This pivotal role involves collaborating across engineering, product, design, and research teams to integrate cutting-edge AI technologies into our products and operations. As a key member of our innovation group, you will have the opportunity to build AI-native architectures from the ground up in a dynamic, regulated environment.
In this position, you will design and implement intelligent systems that enhance customer experiences through AI-powered interactions, personalized repayment journeys, and intelligent support agents. Your responsibilities include rapid prototyping, scaling promising models for production, and ensuring the resilience and security of AI solutions. You will also architect the AI foundation by selecting and integrating appropriate large language models, orchestration frameworks, and vector databases.
The ideal candidate holds a BS and MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, with a PhD in AI or ML strongly preferred. You should have over 15 years of software engineering experience, including at least 5 years focused on large language models, agentic AI, and generative AI systems. Proficiency in backend systems, distributed architecture, and cloud-native development is essential, along with expertise in Python and familiarity with languages such as C#, C++, Go, or Rust.
