Samsung Semiconductor is seeking a Principal Engineer specializing in RTL Power Macromodeling to join our R&D team in San Jose, California. This role focuses on developing high-fidelity power macromodels for AI computing memory component IPs, translating RTL/SystemC/C behavior into time-indexed, input-dependent power models.

The Principal Engineer will be responsible for creating advanced power macromodels using analytical modeling, lookup tables, finite state machines, neural networks, and hybrid approaches. Key tasks include extracting activity-, value-, and state-dependent power features from simulations, defining power-relevant functional states, supporting trace-driven power modeling, performing synthesis-assisted calibration, and validating macromodel accuracy against reference results and real-silicon data. Collaboration with software engineers on feature semantics, timing alignment, and model interfaces is also essential.

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree with 20+ years of experience or a Master's degree with 18+ years of experience. Strong expertise in RTL design, synthesis, and analysis (Verilog/SystemVerilog/SystemC) is required, along with a solid understanding of dynamic and leakage power mechanisms in CMOS and interconnects. Hands-on experience with logic synthesis and power analysis tools, as well as power modeling tools from both academia and industry, is essential. Familiarity with SystemC or transaction-level modeling and the ability to abstract RTL behavior into compact models are also necessary.

Preferred qualifications include experience with GPU, computer architecture, AI memory, memory controllers, PHYs, or high-speed I/O, as well as knowledge of cross-coupling capacitance, clock power modeling, power and signal integrity, low-power design, and thermal management.

Samsung Semiconductor offers a comprehensive benefits package centered around the well-being of our employees and their families. This includes medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) plans, as well as generous paid time off, family support programs, emotional wellness resources, onsite amenities, and a flexible work environment.
