Principal Engineer, SOC Design
The Principal Engineer, SOC Design position at Samsung Semiconductor is a pivotal role within the DRAM Development Lab (DDL), part of the Memory Business Unit. This team is dedicated to advancing memory and storage technologies to address challenges in cloud and data center environments. The SOC team focuses on developing silicon solutions that enhance computing system architectures for emerging applications in machine learning, data analytics, and edge computing.
In this role, the engineer will participate in defining architectural specifications and micro-architectures at both subsystem and chip levels. Responsibilities include top-level integration, logic design, and RTL implementation, ensuring quality through assertion checks, linting, clock domain crossing analysis, and static timing analysis. The engineer will also review and integrate third-party IPs, such as ARM cores, DDR controllers, and UCIe PHYs, collaborating closely with architects and verification engineers to ensure robust SOC designs.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with over 20 years of experience, a Master's degree with over 18 years, or a PhD with over 15 years of industry experience. Essential skills include hands-on knowledge of ASIC design flows from design to tape-out, experience with ATE vector generation and silicon bring-up, and familiarity with commercial IPs like UCIe, CPU, Ethernet, and DDR interfaces. A strong understanding of performance, power, and area trade-offs, as well as experience in SOC-level synthesis and timing analysis, is also required.
The position offers a competitive salary range from $219,000 to $351,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
