Principal Enterprise Architect
As a Principal Enterprise Architect at Zip Co Limited, you will play a pivotal role in designing and shaping the enterprise architecture that will drive Zip's next generation of lending, payments, ledger, and AI-native platforms. This senior, hands-on position is based in Australia and offers a hybrid working model, combining meaningful in-office collaboration with flexible remote work options. You will be part of Zip's Technology function, which is responsible for building and maintaining seamless, secure, and sustainable platforms that empower customers and merchant partners alike.
In this role, you will define and evolve Zip's multi-year enterprise and domain architecture across various domains, including lending, payments, ledger, digital channels, data, and platform capabilities. Your responsibilities will include authoring reference architectures, domain models, integration patterns, and exemplar designs that teams can apply in practice. You will establish principle-led architecture governance to enable speed, autonomy, and high-quality decision-making, while partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Data, Security, and Risk leaders to align technology strategy with customer and business outcomes. Additionally, you will embed AI-first and agentic design patterns to enable safe, scalable automation across regulated financial workflows.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in enterprise or solution architecture within fintech or financial services environments, with a deep understanding of lending, payments, ledgering, and credit or risk platforms in regulated settings. Proven capability in defining target state architectures and leading complex multi-domain transformations is essential. Strong expertise in cloud-native and distributed systems, including event-driven and API-first architectures, is required, along with hands-on experience in shaping data platforms and enabling AI and ML-driven decisioning at scale. The ability to partner with senior executives while remaining deeply credible with engineers, and to simplify complex systems to drive architectural clarity that accelerates delivery, is crucial.
