Principal Loads & Dynamics Engineer
Anduril Industries is seeking a Principal Loads & Dynamics Engineer to join the Omen team at their Costa Mesa headquarters. Omen is a hover-to-cruise autonomous air vehicle that combines the endurance, payload capacity, and mission flexibility of larger aircraft into a novel, runway-independent Group 3 platform. This role offers the opportunity to work on new aircraft development in a lean, high-ownership culture, directly shaping the product and accelerating the development of future systems.
The Principal Loads & Dynamics Engineer will be responsible for the structural loads, dynamics, and aeroelasticity analysis of the Omen air vehicle. Key responsibilities include developing structural loads analysis to ensure structural integrity under various flight and ground conditions, generating and maintaining integrated dynamics finite element models (FEMs) for use in loads derivation and aeroelastic analyses, conducting aeroelastic and aeroservoelastic studies to predict and verify aircraft behavior, and performing flutter analysis to inform vehicle design and ensure flight safety. Additionally, the engineer will generate flight loads data in accordance with military and federal aviation regulations, collaborate with design engineers to develop structural optimization strategies, prepare detailed technical reports, and develop and perform dynamics testing, including vibration and modal testing.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or applied physics with a focus on structures, along with a deep understanding of statics, dynamics, solid mechanics, materials science, finite element analysis, and dynamic testing. A minimum of 15 years of experience in a structures, loads, or dynamics-related role with high ownership and accountability for hardware outcomes is required. Proficiency in the use of FEMAP/Nastran or similar tools is essential. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, self-starting, and able to perform duties autonomously without supervision, with a strong passion for defending the United States and its allies.
The salary range for this role is $220,000 to $292,000 annually. Anduril offers highly competitive equity grants as part of the total compensation package. Additional benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans at little to no cost, income protection through life and disability insurance, generous time off with a holiday hiatus in December, caregiver and wellness leave, family planning and parenting support, mental health resources, professional development reimbursement, commuter benefits, and relocation assistance depending on role eligibility. Retirement savings plans are also available, including traditional 401(k), Roth, and after-tax options.
Anduril Industries fosters a culture of innovation, collaboration, and rapid development, providing employees with the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology that has a real-world impact. The company emphasizes high ownership and accountability, allowing team members to directly shape products and operate at a velocity to fly new designs within months, not years. This environment offers significant growth opportunities for individuals passionate about advancing defense technology and contributing to national security.
