As the Principal Metrology Engineer at Archer, you will lead the development and implementation of metrology tools and processes to ensure our all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, Midnight, meets stringent design requirements. Reporting directly to the Head of Quality, you will play a pivotal role in establishing quality standards and inspection techniques during the test phase of the program at both our San Jose and Covington facilities.

Your primary responsibilities will include developing and overseeing the metrology program, executing verification processes incorporating risk-based approaches, and leading the deployment of laser trackers, Faro arms, and other key metrology equipment. Specific tasks involve establishing critical wing dimensions using laser trackers, developing plans to utilize GearPro on CMMs, and training inspectors to measure key features on propellers. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to integrate quality into all business processes is essential.

The ideal candidate will possess at least 10 years of experience with multiple metrology programs such as Calypso, Metrolog, and Faro, along with expertise in complex geometries, model-based engineering, and GD&T. Proficiency with CMMs, laser trackers, and other metrology equipment is required, as well as experience in manufacturing environments within aerospace or other highly regulated industries. Knowledge of quality standards like AS9100, AS9103, AS9145, and AS6500 is also necessary.

This position offers a competitive base salary ranging from $143,000 to $183,000 annually, determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
