Principal Product Designer, Consumer
Chime is seeking a Principal Product Designer to lead the design vision for high-impact, member-facing experiences that set a new standard in consumer fintech. This role involves shaping the quality and direction of design within the Chime app, advocating for thoughtful, member-centered solutions, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver meaningful impact. The position is based in San Francisco, with an in-office requirement from Monday to Thursday.
Key responsibilities include leading the product and design vision for complex, cross-functional initiatives, defining strategic direction, and ensuring experiences align with both member needs and business goals. The role also involves raising the bar for design execution across the organization by championing strong craft, thoughtful interaction design, and scalable visual systems. Additionally, the designer will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Marketing, and Analytics to define holistic, user-centered strategies that drive measurable outcomes.
The ideal candidate will have a portfolio demonstrating strong product thinking, clear design strategy, and excellent craft across complex digital experiences. They should have a track record of designing and shipping impactful consumer products at scale across mobile and web platforms. Expertise in tools like Figma and modern prototyping workflows, including the effective use of AI-powered design tools, is essential. Experience working with and evolving design systems to ensure consistency and scalability across products is also required.
The base salary for this role ranges from $202,000 to $280,000, depending on location, skills, qualifications, and experience. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits.
