Principal Software Engineer, Backend
Skylo Technologies is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join our Connectivity Platform team in Bangalore, India. This senior, hands-on role involves leading the architecture and implementation of critical backend systems that enable our satellite connectivity solutions. As a key technical authority, you will drive the design and development of scalable and resilient platforms, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
In this position, you will be responsible for architecting complex, distributed backend systems, defining technical strategies for major components, and leading the implementation of large-scale features from design through deployment. Your day-to-day activities will include conducting rigorous code and design reviews, mentoring engineers across various levels, and promoting best practices such as clean code, test-driven development, and DevOps maturity. Additionally, you will identify performance bottlenecks and lead initiatives to optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability.
The ideal candidate will have over 16 years of progressive experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on backend development and distributed system architecture. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required. Deep proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Go, or Python is essential, along with extensive experience in microservices architecture, API design (REST, gRPC), and API documentation (Swagger/OpenAPI). Strong expertise in data stores (SQL and NoSQL), caching systems (Redis, Memcached), and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Pub/Sub) is also necessary. Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) is expected.
