Product Sourcing Engineer, Supply Chain
The Product Sourcing Engineer at Anduril Industries is responsible for developing strategic supply networks and managing cost structures for the company's hardware products throughout their lifecycles. This role involves close collaboration with suppliers and internal teams, including engineering, quality, and manufacturing, to ensure efficient and cost-effective product development and production.
Key responsibilities include selecting suppliers from an approved list, partnering with them to accelerate product development through activities such as concept scoping, feature trade-offs, cost modeling, joint design development, and design simulations. The engineer will also drive the development and consolidation of manufacturing bills of materials (BOMs), manage capital expenditures during new product introduction, conduct value-stream mapping to optimize supply chain lead times, perform BOM risk assessments, ensure component qualifications are completed before production, and lead cost engineering activities to align product costs with targets.
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field and have at least one year of experience in sourcing engineering, supplier engagement and development, or the design of electronic or mechanical devices. Expertise in value or procurement engineering and total cost of ownership analysis at the component and product levels is required. The role requires the ability to travel up to 25% of the time and relocate to be onsite in Costa Mesa, California.
Preferred qualifications include a master's or advanced technical degree, deeper experience in the design and development of electronic or mechanical devices, advanced sourcing activities, supplier development, early supplier engagement, familiarity with developing high-tech products in a high-mix, low-volume environment, exposure to fast-paced startup environments, and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret clearance.
