Propulsion Test Technician III - B Shift
The Propulsion Test Technician III at Rocket Lab's Long Beach, CA headquarters is responsible for testing the Rutherford rocket engine, which includes components such as the thrust chamber, pumps, valves, plumbing, TVC actuators, and motor controllers. This role supports the Propulsion Production Manager and the broader production organization, contributing to deliverables for internal leadership, the board of directors, and investors.
Key responsibilities include performing high-pressure pneumatic operations using GN2 and HE, setting up and operating Data Acquisition systems like FlexLogger and LabView, troubleshooting and repairing various valves and pressure components, working with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), conducting hydrostatic testing, handling LN2/cryogenic components during testing procedures, generating Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and implementing 5S practices to maintain a clean and organized work area.
Candidates should have over 5 years of experience in high-pressure operations, proficiency with Data Acquisition and Instrumentation systems such as FlexLogger and LabView, hands-on experience with valves and pressure components, and experience handling LN2/cryogenic components under test conditions. Additional qualifications that are beneficial include over 8 years of mechanical assembly or fitting experience, experience with torquing and safety wire installation, relevant certifications, experience with in-space testing, and knowledge of manufacturing processes and product development.
