QUALITY INSPECTOR III – NDT (X-RAY)
As a Quality Inspector III – NDT (X-Ray) at Rocket Lab's Long Beach, CA facility, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and reliability of components and assemblies within our advanced manufacturing programs. Rocket Lab is a leading end-to-end space company dedicated to delivering responsive launch services, complete spacecraft design and manufacturing, and satellite components, all aimed at opening access to space.
In this position, you will lead and perform advanced X-Ray non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections, develop and implement inspection techniques for complex geometries and materials, and ensure compliance with rigorous industry standards. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include interpreting and evaluating X-Ray results, providing technical guidance and training to NDT Level I and II technicians, and collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve NDT processes and eliminate non-conforming products.
The ideal candidate will have over five years of experience in mechanical assembly, mechanical fitting, or NDT testing, along with certifications from the American Welding Society (AWS) or as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI). A Level III certification in X-Ray NDT (per ASNT, NAS 410, or equivalent standards) is required. Experience in the aviation, aerospace, or similar industries performing NDT inspections, as well as extensive experience inspecting advanced materials such as high-strength aluminum alloys, precipitation-hardened steels, Inconel, Monel, titanium, and Maraging steel, is essential. A strong knowledge of NDT standards and codes, including AS, AMS, AWS, NAS, ASME, and ASTM, is also necessary.
