Recovery Barge Technician
Rocket Lab is seeking a Recovery Barge Technician to join the Neutron Recovery team in Middle River, Maryland. This role involves supporting offshore recovery missions by operating and maintaining critical deck and recovery systems aboard marine barges and support vessels. The position requires strong marine operational experience and technical skills with heavy equipment in a high-tempo offshore environment.
Key responsibilities include assisting with offshore rocket recovery operations, operating and maintaining deck equipment, and supporting the setup, inspection, and handling of rocket interface hardware such as holding and securing systems and inerting and tank safety systems. The technician will also execute safe handling procedures for flight hardware, perform routine maintenance and pre-mission checks on marine and recovery equipment, coordinate with marine crew and engineers during operations, and participate in offshore mobilization and demobilization activities.
Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and at least 2 years of experience with deck operations and heavy marine equipment. A strong understanding of offshore safety procedures and vessel operations is essential. Additionally, the ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) is required. Experience supporting rocket recovery or aerospace marine operations, familiarity with lifting and securing large structures, and knowledge of inert gas systems or tank safety systems are desirable.
