The Regional Safety Engineer at Archer is responsible for providing hands-on safety and environmental support to the company's composites manufacturing site in Huntington Beach and flight operations at Hawthorne Airport. This role focuses on implementing Archer's Safety and Environmental Services programs, particularly concerning high-hazard equipment such as autoclaves, pressure vessels, ovens, CNC machining, dust collection systems, compressors, and chillers, as well as overseeing aircraft and ground operations. The engineer collaborates closely with site leadership, maintenance teams, facilities, and flight operations to mitigate risks while supporting operational schedules.

Key responsibilities include acting as the primary safety engineer for both locations, leading pre-startup safety reviews and approvals for regional equipment and processes, and ensuring compliance with Cal/OSHA pressure vessel and air receiver requirements. The role also involves supporting electrical and machine-safety risk assessments for high-voltage equipment, developing and maintaining documented operating parameters for thermal processes, and evaluating hazards related to combustible dust and airborne composites. Additionally, the engineer oversees the safe management of compressed air and vacuum systems, coordinates hazardous materials and waste controls, and provides direct safety support to flight operations, including ramp safety and aircraft ground handling.

Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial/Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related technical field, or have equivalent experience. A minimum of 5 years of EHS or safety engineering experience in aerospace, aviation maintenance, advanced composites, or heavy manufacturing is required, with direct exposure to high-hazard equipment. Experience supporting flight operations, aircraft maintenance, or airport/ramp environments is essential, along with a strong working knowledge of OSHA/Cal-OSHA requirements and relevant codes and standards. Hands-on experience conducting formal hazard/risk assessments and pre-startup safety reviews, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with various teams, is also necessary. Willingness and ability to travel regularly between Huntington Beach, Hawthorne, and other regional sites (target 25–40%) is expected.

Archer offers a competitive base pay range of $117,800 to $155,000 for this position, with actual compensation determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
